KOHLER

Fixtures from Kohler have a distinct style and look.  Kohler has been around for a while, and I must say it is the first company I go to when I am looking for plumbing fixtures.  I love looking through magazines and come upon one of their great ads that market their new product perfectly.  Their ads are artwork to me and they definitely know what they are doing!

SHERWIN WILLIAMS

Every time I see the Sherwin Williams commercial, I have to stop and watch.  I am mesmerized with the beautifully colored paint chips transforming into hot air balloons, city scapes, summer days and even a Sherwin Williams store front.  Fabulous!

St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles recently asked 10 St. Louis designers to pick their top paint colors and I of course picked one from Sherwin Williams.

Tempo Teal
Sherwin-Williams SW6947
“Teal for a long time has received a bad rap. This year it has come back with a vengeance and is popping up everywhere. This bold hue looks great as a accent wall. It can also make a statement as a throw pillow, a fun accessory, an area rug or picture frame. However, this color should never be used as a bridesmaid dress!” —Designer Jill Bolzenius, Ellen Kurtz Interiors, 314-426-6262,www.ellenkurtzinteriors.com

POTTERY BARN

My guilty pleasure is Pottery Barn.  I hate to sound  cliché, but I love their look, and their look is trendy right now.  I have always been one of those people who can find treasure and beauty under layers of paint.  That Pottery Barn look can be achieved in various ways.

One of my favorite pieces is a transformed breakfast table with a Pottery Barn look.  I found it in an abandoned house and took it home to restore.  I cut the legs off creating a cocktail table and painted the top white.

LIGHTING

Lighting makes the room!  Splurge when you can because lighting is a huge detail that is sometimes overlooked.  There are so many choices and each one gives the room a certain feel.  My favorite look trending right now is the “exposed bulb” look.

KDR Designer Showrooms has an amazing fixture with over scaled light bulbs that are bundled together hanging over a dining room table.
