New Materials and Refinished Pieces Create Cozy, Soothing Space

Gray, green and blue color scheme creates soothing space. Longtime clients are a lot like longtime friends.

As the years pass by, you get the pleasure of watching each other evolve and grow.

One of the best things about working with longtime clients is seeing how their taste has changed over the years.

A perfect example of this is a couple I have worked with for 32 years. We have worked on three of their homes together, and I love the fact that she loves to change things up with each new design.

In each of the homes we did together, I have redesigned the rooms more than once. The clients have also painted and repainted their furniture more than once.

These clients love design almost as much as I do!

Last year, they brought me in to revamp the lower level of their current home. They wanted to use many of their existing furniture pieces and accessories, but also add in some materials.

I rearranged the furniture in the space, and painted several pieces, including the cocktail table and some chairs, in a pear green.

20160908_083250We painted the room in a soft gray-blue, and I purchased silver panels at Lowe’s Home Improvement store. I had the panels white washed and applied them to the front half wall in the kitchen area and the ceiling of the dining area.

I added an area rug, new lighting and new laminate flooring to freshen up the space. I removed her valances but kept the panels and hung them from new rods.

The gray, blue and green color scheme and the combination of new materials and refinished pieces gave us results that are soothing, fresh and cozy.

My clients and I are thrilled with the space. I can’t wait to tackle the next room they’re ready to redesign!
